The Old School House is an attractive 3 bedroom detached cottage in the popular  Lakeland village of Threlkeld nr Keswick.  Originally the village school house, the original cottage dates back to the 1780’s, and now offers a high standard of accommodation with superb views across the fells and mountains from all windows. The cosy lounge, once the old school’s boys classroom, has a stove-effect fire surrounded by a polished Lakeland slate fireplace.  For relaxing after a day of exploring there is a TV, DVD/video player.  

 

The bookcase contains several Lake District interest/guide books as well as a good selection of novels and children's books.

The kitchen was replaced at the start of 2017 and is open to the dining room to create a large social space.  

 

It is fully equipped including an electric oven and hob, integrated fridge/freezer, Combi microwave/oven, integrated dishwasher.

 

The kitchen has a range of fully fitted units with plenty of storage space. 

 

Adjoining the kitchen is an additional larder room with plenty of shelf space. 

Even when you are at the kitchen sink the view across the fells is superb. 

The dining room comfortably sits 6 and has a large pine table and chairs and a welsh dresser. The dresser contains a good selection of family games and jigsaws.  This room has a TV and a Radio/CD player.

 

The open plan kitchen dining area is perfect for family get togethers/holidays.

 

From the dining room and kitchen windows and from the rear patio there are uninterrupted views across to St Johns in the Vale and the surrounding hills.

Downstairs is also a separate toilet and a large utility/drying room, for the occasional wet day, with washing machine and a dryer.  
The main bedroom has pine furnishings with a double bed, dressing table  and large wardrobe. This room has an en-suite shower room with toilet and sink  

This main bedroom again has a superb view, just what you need when you wake up in the morning. 

Cottage second double bedroom

The second bedroom, once the girl’s classroom, has twin beds, a washbasin, dressing table and a large fitted wardrobe.

The third bedroom has a double bed, and pine wardrobe and dressing table.

 

 

The re-furbished bathroom has a toilet, sink and a shower over the bath. 

The cottage has oil central heating and double-glazing.  There is off road parking for two cars as well as a garage.  At the front of the cottage is a small garden and at the back a patio with garden furniture and superb views across open fields towards the fells and mountains.

Please note the stairs are quite steep and so elderly guests and those with small children may want to discuss the suitability with us prior to booking.

We accept up to two well behaved dogs at no extra charge.   The front garden and rear patio are fully enclosed and we have a large utility room with a tiled floor and a sink which is ideal for washing your dogs after a good walk.

The cottage is no smoking.

All Heating, electric, bedding linen is included.
